Beijing!

After about 24hrs of nonstop travelling we arrived in Beijing, China. It's beautiful here! The pictures do not do justice to what it really looks like. It's not all 5-star quality but there's something really breath-taking about the sights here. In all my travels, it seems to me that many Asian countries are of similar structural engineering design as well as similar land formation. There is a big difference between the rich and the poor.

Predeparture

This time next week myself and 4 other selected interns will be on our way to Beijing. It's an exciting and somewhat emotional time as we prepare to embark on this adventure while leaving our family and friends behind in Canada. Some of us have already finished packing while others are waiting for the last minute. Packing kind of seals the deal; the last step before you travel.

To prepare for our trip we underwent about 2 weeks of pretravel orientation in which we discussed culture, academic approaches, learned Mandarin as well as other topics that were deemed from previous experience to be helpful to us. We also used this time to prepare the orientation that we will be presenting to the students from BCCSC who will be coming to Canada.
